Lift Chairs Advantages

Filed under: lift chairs — liftchairs @ 2:23 pm

If you are someone that can not stand easily or without assistance, then you might feel like you have to hire someone to help you sit or even sit only in circumstances when you know someone will be available to help you stand again. Standing and sitting might seem very difficult, but there is no reason it should if you own a lift chair.

A lift chair in many ways looks like any high-end recliner you might see, but they offer much improved functionality. A lift chair rises into the air to make it easier to stand and sit. These extremely comfortable lift recliners can, depending on model, support weights greater than 500 pounds and their seats come in several different sizes. Most support around 350 pounds and have only one electric motor, but those that support more than that are usually feature dual motors.

The fabrics available for these chairs varies and there are usually several different colors and designs available. Some are available with leather and others utilize synthetic fabrics which offer superior breathability and stain control, but are very similar to leather.

Lift chairs also come in several different levels of recline. Some lift chairs can recline to a position that is great for sleeping. These types of chairs are called 3 position chairs. In 3 position chairs the backrest and footrest operate together as one unit. Infinite position lift chairs allow the footrest and backrest to be operated separately and also recline to a near horizontal position. TV recline lift chairs can recline about 45 degrees and are also called 2 position lift chairs.

Those that have trouble standing and sitting greatly benefit from lift chairs.

ll670.jpgPride Mobility is a manufacturer of lift chairs and other mobility aids. They began custom building lift chairs over twenty years ago, and today are one of the most respected names in the mobility industry.

One of their most popular lift chairs is the Pride LL-670. The LL-670 is part Pride’s Specialty Collection, which is geared towards providing very elegant chairs that offer exceptional fabrics. The chairs of the Specialty Collection also have special features that set the chairs apart from others. This includes chairs that are wall huggers, have removable armrests, or, as in the case of the LL-670, have an available bed option.

The LL-670 is an infinite position lift chair. This means it can recline to a horizontal sleeping position and allows the footrest and backrest to be operated separately. It uses a very comfortable blown fiber pillow back and can support up to 375 pounds. It is designed for individuals who are between 5’5” and 6’. The LL-670 also has a battery backup, so you will never be left sitting, even if the power goes out.

One of the things that really sets the LL-670 apart from other lift chairs is the available bed option. If you opt for the bed option, a specially fitted removable mattress is included with the chair. The mattress can be quickly placed on the chair to make it a very comfortable place to sleep. It also helps to reduce the risk of sores and improve the overall comfort of the chair.

Consumer Alert: Spring Loaded Lift Chairs

Filed under: lift chairs — liftchairs @ 1:30 pm

Lift chairs are used by all types of people who have difficulty standing on their own. It can be difficult for people with back and hip problems to stand up from a sitting position. Frequently it is not possible without assistance and in many cases, while possible, standing without any help can be dangerous and puts the individual at great risk of injury. It is not only those with back or hip problems that have difficulty standing. Muscular sclerosis, a type of neuromuscular disease, and arthritis, a common type of joint disorder, are two other conditions that can make it very difficult to stand.

For these individuals and many more lift chairs are a great addition to the bedroom. They literally lift an individual into a position that is easy to stand from. They are also used to make certain that an individual can sit in a manner that is controlled and slow enough that the risk of injury and falls is greatly reduced. The base of a lift chair contains a powerful lifting mechanism that raises and lowers the chair into the air.

Always make certain that you are using a lift chair that operates electronically. Spring loaded lift chairs were once popular, but these chairs basically work like catapults and once they start going you can’t stop them. Spring loaded chairs are not covered in anyway by Medicare and they present a very real danger to people’s health. Reputable home mobility equipment dealers and manufacturers do not offer these types of chairs any longer, but some disreputable companies do.

If you ever come across a company that sells spring loaded lift chairs, you should not purchase anything from them, because it is a well documented fact that these chairs are dangerous. To still be selling these chairs shows a lack of regard for their customers.
